I haven't been able to post in a few days, since we have had guests in from out of town. All the while I was running around town entertaining them, I felt like I had all of these good thoughts for new posts, and here I am without an idea of where I am going. Oh well...
Last week we had our first full staff meeting and we will have students for the first time this friday. It was nice to meet all of the new teachers, though I am having a difficult time remembering all of their names. A few are in their first year, having just completed student teaching in the spring. On a purely selfish level, I am really glad that they are here. Last year I was the only first-year teacher in our school and I felt like I was often the only one who didn't really know what was going on. It is nice to know that I am not "the new kid" anymore.
Talking to some of the new people really did make me realize how much that one year really changes things. There were a couple of times when they were asking me about the school, the students, policies, etc. and I was just rambling off my answers that it struck me as strange that these people would actually care about what I have to say.
I am going to have to get used to this.
